Why ‘Blue Collar Web’? What’s in a name.

The name is a tongue in cheek response to many of the clickbait articles I have seen over the years pondering the question “Is Web Development is the next Blue-Collar job”. These articles have cropped up over the years from the likes of Wired, LinkedIn, and Medium asking the question and I do not expect this trend to end. Do I think of Web Development as a Blue-Collar job? Most definitely not!

Web Development is a highly skilled and technical field that requires a strong understanding of programming languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as frameworks like Angular, React, and Vue.js. It also requires an understanding of design principles and user experience in order to build effective and intuitive websites and applications.

One popular platform for building websites is WordPress. WordPress is a content management system (CMS) that allows users to easily create and manage their own websites without needing to have any coding knowledge. It has a vast library of themes and plugins that can be used to customize the appearance and functionality of a website. However, it is important for WordPress users to have a basic understanding of web development concepts in order to effectively use the platform and create a successful website.

In conclusion, while the term “Blue-Collar” may be used casually to describe manual or trade-based work, web development is a highly skilled and technical field that requires a significant amount of education and training. Both web development and WordPress can be challenging and rewarding careers, and those who excel in these fields are highly valued members of the tech industry.
